Night Transformations of Sound and Light 

PURPOSE
To use light and sound to transform the Petrašiūnai Power Plant area and create a memorable cultural experience for visitors to the Kaunas ‘Transformations’ Energy Festival in its outdoor spaces.

SOLUTION
Renowned Lithuanian artist duo, composer Paulius Kilbauskas and light artist Eugenijus Sabaliauskas, transformed the Petrašiūnai Power Plant area for two days with the help of light and sound. By choosing a monochromatic palette, the artists highlighted the forms and features of the industrial architecture, giving it a modern aesthetic. The industrial space’s past and future aspects were showcased through a soundtrack, composed specifically for this experience, that used both synthetic and natural sounds characteristic of the power plant environment. By combining light and sound, the artists created a spectacular and immersive atmosphere for festival visitors.
